Suomalainen saunoja haluaa kokea

löylyn sihahduksen ja vihtomisen

autuuden ja nyt sen lisäksi on myös

mahdollista samassa tilassa läm-

mitellä infrapunalämmön tuottamas-

sa syvälämmössä. Kun tavallisessa

saunassa viihdytään vain löylynoton

ajan, ehkä  noin 10  minuuttia ja

sitä ennen saunaa on  lämmitetty

6–10 kW kiukaalla 30–60 minuuttia,

on tämä sähkön säästön  kannalta

varsin tuhlaava tapa saunoa. Koti-

maisilla infralämpökalvoilla saadaan

saunaan tarvittava 45–55 asteen

syvälämpö aikaan puolella siitä

kW-määrästä mitä kiukaalla. Siksi

infrasaunassa sen monien terveys-

vaikutusten lisäksi voidaan säästää

merkittävä määrä sähkökuluissa.

Koska infrapunalämmössä on

hyvä istua päivittäin 20–30

minuuttia on syytä kiin-

nittää enenevässä määrin

huomiota saunan istuinten mukavuu-

teen ja muihinkin viihtyvyystekijöihin.

Nyt on tullut markkinoille mm. uudet

”Tuntu”-riippulauteet, joissa voi istua

kuin aurinkotuolissa etelän lämmössä.

Lauteitten keksijä Mika Hautamäki

oli tavallisilla lauteilla istuessaan miet-

tinyt, miksi lauteet eivät voisi olla myös

mukavat istua. Hän kehitteli ja testasi

mitoiltaan sopivan riippulaudemallin,

joka on nyt asennettavissa niin vanhaan

kuin uuteenkin saunaan.

Suomen Saunakeskus Oy tarttui ideaan

ja tarjoaa nyt mahdollisimman muka-

van tavan saunoa yhdistämällä kiukaan,

infralämmön ja Tuntu-lauteet samaan

tilaan. Jos saunan minimimitat ovat

140 x 120 cm pelkkänä infrasaunana tai

140 x160 cm yhdistelmäsaunana, voi sinne

asentaa Tuntu-lauteet laudetason päälle.

Infralämpökalvot asennetaan 12 x 68 mm

leppä- tai haapapaneeleitten alle, joten ne

eivät vie saunasta tilaa. Uuteen saunaan

tehdään koolaus 60 cm välein seiniin ja

kattoon siten, että 58 cm leveät ja 90 cm

ja 180 cm pitkät kalvot voidaan kiinnittää

koolinkeihin ennen panelointia.

Vanhasta saunasta saadaan helposti

infrasauna asentamalla vanhan pane-

loinnin päälle infralämpökalvot, joiden

päälle asennetaan 12 x 68 mm paneelit.

Lämpökalvot liitetään toisiinsa kätevällä,

patentoidulla pika- asennusjohdolla, jonka

Saunakeskus toimittaa lämmityskalvojen

mukana. Saunan lämpötilaa säädetään

joko infrasäätimellä tai kiukaan kanssa

yhdistelmäsäätimellä. Saunatilaa lämmi-

tetään aluksi kiukaalla noin 50 asteeseen.

Sen jälkeen infralämpö ylläpitää saunan

lämmön miellyttävän tasaisena, jolloin

sähköä kuluu mahdollisimman vähän

saunomiskertaa kohti.

Infrasaunassa viihtymistä voidaan

parantaa asentamalla selkänojan taakse

LED-valot noin 30 cm välein ja sopi-

vaan paikkaan  lukuvalot. Äänentois-

toa varten kannattaa saunaremontin

yhteydessä vetää ainakin kaiutinjohdot

valmiiksi saunakaiuttimille, joihin voi

kytkeä kotistereot tai iPod-laitteet. Näin

saunasta saadaan todellinen terveys- ja

viihtymiskeskus, jossa voidaan nauttia

infrapunan syvälämmöstä.

● Infrared Therapy – health effects of Infrared sauna

25. helmikuu am 2012

You’ll love the way this superbly crafted infrared sauna engages all your senses and offers soothing relaxation. Better still, you’ll be amazed at the health giving benefits it offers to you and your family.

Detoxify and lose weight

Scientific studies show that a thirty minute session in an infrared sauna can assist in the loss of toxins and stored fats by up to six times the level a traditional sauna or exercise alone can achieve. This is because infrared light penetrates deeply into the tissue and the unique light wavelength acts to break down toxins (pesticides, heavy metals etc), cellulite and fats. Because you can sweat up to three times more than you do in a traditional sauna, these fragmented impurities are then flushed to the surface where you can simply wash them away.

In a comfortable thirty minute session you can lose up to 800 calories.

Enjoy radiant, youthful skin

Infrared heat helps develop the body’s capillary network. This increases the blood circulation to your skins surface. Together with infrared heat’s super cleansing effect, you will see a noticeable improvement in your skin’s texture, complexion and tone.

Find relief from pain

Health professionals have used infrared lamps for many decades to treat muscle and joint problems because of infrared’s deeply penetrating heat. ’s design and patented infrared technology ensures an increased flow of oxygen rich blood to painful areas helps to flush away toxins and ease stiffness, aches and soreness from arthritic conditions, over work, or poor posture.

Healthy for your heart

When you sweat more, your heart works harder to pump blood. An easy thirty minute session in a infrared sauna is equivalent to walking or jogging for 10 to 15 kilometres and without any impact on the joints.

Reduce unsightly cellulite

European beauty specialists regularly incorporate sessions in programmes to reduce cellulite. Because the radiant infrared heat penetrates three times as deeply as conventional saunas, it is significantly more effective at breaking down hard to move cellulite and promoting a more youthful, beautiful complexion.

Wake up your immune system and combat the effects of daily stress

’s deep radiant infrared heat raises your body temperature, inducing an artificial fever, which in turn activates and stimulates your body’s immune system. Combined with the elimination of toxins and wastes, your overall health and resistance to disease is noticeably improved so you look and feel better.

Enhance other treatments and exercise

Whether you receive massage, beauty treatments, practice yoga or attend a gym, the effect works to maximise your results.

● Fantastic Reasons to bath in the cleansing warmth of your own Infrared Sauna

1. Effortlessly remove stored toxins and detox your body to look and feel younger
Scientific analysis shows infrared heat induced sweat contains 5-6 times more toxins, fat and impurities than normal sweat. Relax in the and enjoy its unsurpassed ability to eliminate stored waste (metabolic wastes, environmental toxins, city pollution, fat, cholesterol, heavy metals, alcohol, nicotine – source: Zane R. Gard, MD & Erma J. Brown, BSN, PhN TLfDP, October 1992).
2. Aid in weight loss
Our body expends energy to produce sweat (1g sweat requires 0.586 kcal) meaning your body can safely burn up to 800 calories in just one 30-minute session; with sweat loss equivalent to running 10-15km. While this weight can be regained through drinking water, the calories consumed will not. A treatment can also help to raise your basal metabolic rate meaning you will burn calories at an elevated rate for hours after your session has finished. At 42 degrees Celsius, body fat becomes water soluble and can be eliminated through sweating.
3. Reduced signs of aging – Beautiful youthful skin
’s deep acting infrared heat helps to develop and maintain the body’s capillary network. This increases the blood circulation especially to your skin’s surface. Together with infrared heat’s super cleansing effect, you will see a noticeable improvement in your skin’s texture, complexion and tone. It can also remove skin roughness; soothe damage from scaring and even help UV damage leaving your skin feeling baby smooth and soft. Prepare to glow!
4. Cellulite treatment
Beauty specialists in Europe regularly incorporate daily sessions in programmes specifically designed to reduce cellulite. Because the radiant heat of the warms three times as deeply as conventional saunas and aids in the break down and release of stored fat and toxins through the skin, it is significantly more effective at reducing cellulite and promoting smoother skin.
5. Exceptional natural pain relief
owners time and again attest to its amazing ability to reduce and even remove completely the pain associated with various muscle and joint problems; from poor sitting positions and over work to more chronic ailments such as osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. Meaning that safe, natural pain relief without medication, used by European medical professionals is now available in your own home!
6. A retreat to destress and relax
Stress and anxiety melt away in the soothing warmth and comfort of the , your senses being further treated with sensual aromas, soothing colourtherapy and soft music if desired. Infrared therapy has been shown to promote a rebalancing of the body’s hormones through its effect on the autonomic nervous system, reducing the negative physical impact of stress on the body. A session thus helps to truly rebalance both the mind and body.
7. Increased blood circulation that exercises and strengthens the cardiovascular system
As your body is warmed in the the entire cardiovascular system is dilated to increase blood flow to the surface of the skin and the extremities in order to dissipate heat. Meaning your heart works harder pumping blood at a greater rate to boost circulation, supplying the conditioning benefits of continuous exercise. Heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate increase, while diastolic blood pressure drops, for improved overall cardiovascular fitness. A German study showed reduced blood pressure in patients with hypertension for at least 24 hours after infrared therapy.
8. Improved cell function and increased ATP production
Scientific research suggests that infrared therapy helps the body’s cells to work at a more optimal level, including greater efficiency of absorbing nutrients and removing wastes and producing more ATP – the cells source of energy. Healthy cells help make a healthy body!
9. Boosts moods and helps lift depression – five therapies in one
Full spectrum sunlight alone has been shown to have dramatic effects on lifting the winter blues, with the radiant warmth of infrared heat, soothing colours, sounds and aromas of the , however, the effect is further enhanced; each therapy working synergistically to effectively rebalance the body and lift moods. A session can offer a respite from the coldest, wettest and darkest of winter nights when a tropical beach is still thousands of miles away!
10. Improves your immune system
The deep, radiant infrared heat raises your body temperature, inducing a type of artificial fever. As the body works to combat this “fever” your body’s immune system is stimulated and strengthened. Combined with the elimination of toxins and wastes produced by intense sweating your overall health and resistance to disease can be improved.
11. Unbeatable for Insomnia, jetlag and hangovers
Whether you are still on a different time zone, working too late or have overindulged with late night socializing, the can quickly help get you back on track. Either before bed to promote deep, restful sleep, or the morning after to help flush out the excesses of the night before the helps you recover.
12. Promotes healing of sports injuries
Be it a sore back from golf, tired legs from cycling, or even damaged tendons and muscles from the rugby field the offers highly effective promotion of the body’s natural healing processes as proven over many decades by the sports medical profession. Infrared sauna therapy is used by the US Olympic team and NASA.
13. Prevent injury through effective warm up
Before exercise, simply get in the sauna with training gear on and wait until just before starting to sweat.
14. Create a home spa retreat in which to pamper yourself and enhance other beauty treatments
For many decades European beauty spas have used infrared heat to enhance the uptake of active ingredients and treatments for skin and beauty. Creating your own home spa with the will allow you to take time out for yourself and further enhance any other treatments you may utilize.
15. Safe for any age group
Unlike a traditional sauna, the is perfectly safe from childhood to advanced age. From hyperactive kids and stressed adults to the elderly the represents a safe and effective treatment to promote enhanced wellbeing and quality of life.
16. Low comfortable temperature and effective in only 30 minutes

● Frequently Asked Questions and answers about Far Infrared Saunas

25. helmikuu am 2012

1. Is Infrared safe?
Absolutely! Infrared light energy is beneficial and not at all damaging to the body produced by our own cells, emanating from our skin and the palms of our hands.
Infrared has been researched and used in medical practices for over a hundred years. Many maternity wards in hospitals use infrared lamps to warm newborn babies. Sports medicine has long accepted and used Infrared to promote healing of sprains and strains. NASA has also concluded after lengthy trials in the 1980’s that Infrared therapy is the best way for astronauts to maintain cardiovascular fitness on long space flights.

2. How do you sweat up to 3 times more in a Far Infrared Sauna when it is less than half the temperature of a traditional sauna or steam room?
Because Infrared is a radiant source of heat. This means it warms our body directly rather than having to warm the air first, much like the sun warming our body on a cold winters day. This is a major difference between an Infrared Sauna and a traditional sauna. There is no need for very hot air that can cause respiratory problems and dizziness. Infrared only expends 20% of its energy on heating the air, 80% directly warms the body to a depth of 4.5cm or 1.5 inches. This deep penetration of warming radiant heat produces up to 3 times more sweat and stimulates the deeper tissues and organs to release stored fat and toxins. The beneficial resonant absorption and the low temperature allow for easier removal of toxins and fat within the sweat, leaving the user feeling super cleansed and energized.

3. How do I burn calories and get a cardiovascular workout sitting in the Far Infrared Sauna?
When our body heats up the heart pumps blood faster around the body and to the extremities such as the skin. Muscles worked during exercise produce heat and the body needs to compensate. The best defense the body has to overheating is sweating because sweat evaporates from the skin taking heat with it. Our body thus expends energy to produce sweat – 1g of sweat requires 0.586 kcal. A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off up to 1000gms or more in a single sauna session – the equivalent in sweat to running 10-15kms.Therefore by sitting in the your body will start to sweat, raise the heart rate and dilate the capillaries and other parts of the cardiovascular system, therefore offering many of the same cardiovascular benefits as from running or rowing.

4. Why does the Far Infrared Sauna remove up to 7 times more toxins from the body?
This is due to the radiant heat stimulating the deep tissues and organs to release stored fat and accumulated toxins. The Far Infrared Sauna gives the body an opportunity to release the toxins into the blood stream and then into sweat for release through the skin – the third kidney in Chinese medicine.

5. How often can I use the Far Infrared Sauna?
As with any form of exercise it is important to build up a tolerance. In the same treatment time and temperature day by day. Use a lower temperature (35°C) for about 15-20 minutes 3 times a week initially. Many people once conditioned enjoy daily sessions of up to 35-40 minutes.

6. Can anyone use a Far Infrared Sauna?
Pretty much. From young to old they are a safe and enjoyable treatment. However, anyone with specific health conditions should consult their health professional before using. Those with Low Blood Pressure should consult a health professional before using an Infrared Sauna, medical research has shown however that infrared therapy is beneficial for training the cardiovascular system of those with Low Blood Pressure. Those with Haemophilia are not advised to use any form of heat treatment including an infrared sauna due to the considerable dilating effect on the cardiovascular system. Pregnant women or those who think they may be pregnant are also advised against all forms of heat therapy including infrared saunas until after the baby is born。

7. Is the Far Infrared Sauna really effective for pain relief?
Relief from Arthritic joints and lower back pain is a common benefit for many people. Research has also shown Infrared therapy to effectively manage all manner of muscular and skeletal aches and pains。One of the main reasons for its ability to do this is through the dilating of capillaries in areas associated with pain that allows oxygen rich blood to bathe the area flushing away acid metabolic wastes that build up contributing to pain, soreness and stiffness. Many people that have had trouble sleeping from pain and stress have found deep restful sleep is once again available to them through using the Far Infrared Sauna.

SUOMALAINEN SAUNA

Sauna on sovun paikka. Siellä ei saa riidellä. Edelleenkin jokainen suomalainen perhe haluaa oman saunan. Nykyään suurin osa saunoista lämmitetään sähköllä. Jopa pienissä kaupunkiasunnoissa voi olla oma sauna.
Lauantai on perinteinen saunapäivä. Saunassa käytetään vastaa. Vastat tehdään juhannuksen aikaan. Ne tehdään koivunoksista. Talveksi vastat kuivataan.

In an ageless society, we will do whatever it takes to look and feel younger.  It is no secret that anti-aging essentials include a healthy diet, exercise and some good R&R.  But did you know there is a tool that can enhance any anti-aging program to yield better results?  A tool that can help you lose weight, lower blood pressure, enhance detoxification, and relieve pain.  New science is proving that a simple, ancient method of cleansing the body has widespread positive effects on health.  I’m talking about infrared heat therapy–specifically, infrared saunas.

Infrared heat therapy is a significantly underutilized treatment in medicine. However, with the growing movement to find more self-directed, more natural, less invasive ways to overcome health problems and lose weight, it’s becoming more popular among the American public. And that’s a good thing! As we will see in a moment, the science bears out the use of infrared heat as a treatment modality for a wide variety of health conditions.

Infrared saunas present an interesting and powerful opportunity for people to take advantage of the latest advances in heat therapy. These saunas, which can be installed in your home, use infrared light instead of conventional heat to bring up your body temperature. The difference is important because infrared saunas can increase your core body temperature by 2-3 degrees– enough to improve the health results you achieve as compared to conventional saunas. Most infrared saunas on the market produce only far infrared. However, a new development in the field is full-spectrum infrared. Sauna manufacturer, Sunlighten, has discovered a way to produce all wavelengths of theinfrared spectrum–far (FIR), mid (MIR) and near (NIR). This is a significant development because each IR wavelength provides unique health benefits.

Not only does infrared therapy enhance the key essentials I mentioned previously, but it is also an effective means of prevention.  Over the last decade science has finally caught up with what ancient societies have realized for millennia regarding the use of infrared heat therapy, and the evidence that’s surfacing about the benefits of regular use of infrared saunas is impressive.

Infrared saunas help you lose weight. When it comes to burning calories with infrared heat, Sunlighten saunas were clinically shown to dramatically aid in weight loss. Results from a 2009 study indicated that Sunlighten saunas are beneficial for lowering weight and waist circumference in just a 3-month period. And for those who are sedentary due to medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular or respiratory problems, results were even more profound.(i)

Infrared saunas enhance detoxification. We live in a sea of toxins as you know. Luckily there are steps we can take to more effectively remove these toxins, and the use of IR saunas is one powerful method for doing so. The Environmental Protection Agency has shown that sauna therapy increases excretion of heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium) and fat-soluble chemicals like PCBs, PBBs, and HCBs. In fact, toxins stored in fat can prevent you from effectively losing weight. I’ve seen this time and again in my practice: People try everything to lose weight and get healthy, but it isn’t until they detoxify their bodies that they can truly heal.

Infrared saunas reduce blood pressure. Several studies have shown that IR sauna therapy lowers blood pressure significantly. In one study done by the University of Missouri, Kansas City subjects were randomly assigned to either aSolocarbon infrared sauna or a conventional sauna. Systolic blood pressure decreased from an average of 130.5 to 124 in those that underwent IR sauna treatment. Those who were treated in a conventional sauna showed no statistical improvement in blood pressure.(ii)

Infrared saunas reduce complications and improve cardiac performance in heart disease patients.
In addition to lowering blood pressure, IR saunas also improve heart rate variability (HRV)-one of the key indicators of heart health. Normally, there is a subtle variability between heartbeats. When there is more variability in the beat-to-beat rhythm, your heart and nervous system are healthier. The least healthy heart rhythm has the least variability-a flat line. However, when the autonomic nervous system is in chronic stress mode, the heartbeat becomes less variable. Infrared saunas relax the body and mind, reduce autonomic nervous stimulation, and thus improve HRV. There is an IR sauna on the market, the mPulse Series from Sunlighten, with built in biofeedback capabilities for monitoring heart rate during a sauna session.

Infrared saunas support cell health, muscle recovery & immunity. Improved HRV helps cleanse the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells which will support cell health, muscle recovery and the immune system.  Several studies have shown that NIR produced from LEDs (like those found inSunlighten’s technology) stimulate white blood cell production and collagen growth by increasing energy at the cellular level.  A NASA study showed NIR delivered by LEDs deep into body tissue, can quadruple cell health and tissue growth.(iii)  Another study done at the Medical College of Wisconsin demonstrated that LED-produced NIR helps promote cell health and regeneration.(iv) Lastly, a study from The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology concluded that LED NIR restores enzyme activity and reduces cell death by half.(iv)

Infrared saunas improve brain function. As I point out in The UltraMind Solution, the health and resilience of your brain function are directly related to the complexity and variability of your heart rate. What is good for your heart is good for you brain. And since IR saunas increase the variability and health of your nervous system, that means they are a great way to improve brain function. Interestingly, one study has also shown that IR saunas can actually improve the function of neurons that have been damaged by toxins.v This is to say nothing of the relaxing effects noted above, the improvement sauna has on autonomic nervous function, and the overall increased sense of peace and well-being you experience when regularly taking saunas.

In addition to the benefits above, infrared saunas have also been shown to help with relaxation, reduce joint pain, improve your skin, and more. It’s a treatment I highly recommend and one I prescribe to patients often. I suggest you consider regular sauna therapy as well.

It is not hard to find a day spa that offers infrared sauna sessions. However, to get the maximum benefits received with regular use, I recommend adding an infrared sauna to your home.  This is an easy addition as most come in pre-fabricated kits that are ready to assemble and plug in, have low energy consumption and are virtually maintenance free. I recommend Sunlighten saunas. They are high-quality, full spectrum infrared saunas and their customer service team specializes in helping you locate the best sauna for your needs.Sunlighten has agreed to offer my readers a sauna discount!  Contact them at 877-292-0020 and mention promo code HYMAN.

Whether you are overweight, suffering from chronic illness, burdened by constant stress, or you simply want to optimize your body and protect your health for the long term, infrared saunas are an excellent way to do it.

To your good health,

SAUNA YOGA IS COMING FROM FINLAND

6. heinäkuu am 2011

Some like it hot.

Image: YLE / Jani

Fancy striking a downward dog at 100C? Sauna enthusiasts are putting a new spin on the age-old health benefits of the traditional Finnish hot room by bringing yoga onto the sauna bench.

A network entitled Sauna From Finland says this special brand of yoga will diversify sauna firms’ service range and pique foreigners’ interest in Finnish sauna.

Those behind the idea say they hope this form of hot yoga will catch on with the help of home instructions.

Sauna yoga combines postures from several schools of yoga. Working out in a steamy sauna is said to stimulate metabolism while boosting relaxation.

Finnish sauna is a functioning export product, but it needs an image makeover, say sauna experts.

Sauna yoga’s developer, Tiina Vainio, says Finnish sauna has somewhat of a macho image, drawing attention to sweaty sauna competitions.

”The things we know from our home saunas, the aspects related to well-being and relaxation, have been missing from the picture,” she says.

7 tapaa tehdä infrapunasauna kotiin, myös kiuassaunaan

6. heinäkuu am 2011

Lämmitinkasetteja on kolmea eri kokoa (60 x 60 cm a 330 W, 60 x 102 cm a 600 W ja jalkojen taakse tai kattoon 35 x 102 cm a 300 W) ja niistä löytyy sopiva yhdistelmä eri kokoisiin saunoihin.

5. Mittojen mukaan tehty infrapunasauna kotimaisilla Saunakeskus- kalvoilla

Infrasauna voidaan toteuttaa vaikka kylpyhuoneesta poistetun ammeen tilalle.

6. Vakiomitoitetut infrasaunat Saunakeskus-kalvoilla

Suomen Saunakeskus Oy tarjoaa lukuisia eri vaihtoehtoja vakiomitoitetuista saunoista 1-hengen, 2-hengen, 4 – 6 -  8 tai aina 20 hengen saunamalleihin saakka.

7. Komerosauna Saunakeskus-kalvoilla

Kuituvalojen asennus infrapunasaunaan

19. marraskuu am 2010

Kuituvalot valaisevat saunan kauniisti lauteiden takaa.

1. Suunnittele ja mitoita kuituvalojen asennus. Tutustu tarkasti pakkauksessa oleviin asennusohjeisiin. Käänny sähköasennuksessa sähköasentajan puoleen.

2. Käsittele kaksi rimaa (21 mm x 21 mm) saunapaneeleiden sävyisiksi. Poraa toiseen rimaan tasavälein 8 mm:n reikiä kuituvaloja varten. Sopiva väli on 20–35 cm, riippuen saunan koosta.

5. Kiinnitä lauteiden selkänoja kiinni seinään. Selkänojan voi valmistaa esimerkiksi 42 mm:n levyisestä peitelistasta.

6. Asenna lopuksi kuituvalojen projektori saunan läheisyyteen kuivaan tilaan. Projektorin ympärille on jätettävä vapaata ilmatilaa vähintään 10 senttimetriä. Projektoria ei saa peittää.
